Daddy teached me swimmin! Day #1

As Potato go older we started adding more and more water to his bathes. Well we would give him play time and that would end in having half of the bath water on the floor because Potato was perfecting his diving and under water adventures. We new then that we had a fish on our hands. We did not have to teach him to blow bubbles or stick his head under the water he did that on his own and with no fear. This is a good and bad thing. When we go to the pool he makes a bee line for the water and thankfully we already have an adult ready for our little diver.

DH and I have been searching for a place to take Potato for swimming lessons for a bout 7 months now but haven't had much luck. Either places were really expensive or they did not offer days and times that we could make. For the 4th of July weekend all the friends came over and we had a pool party and of course Potato was showing off his abilities to swim. Everyone was very impressed and told us that we should be practicing with him on a daily basis. I agree.

On Thursday DH and I took him to the pool and had a lot of practice. The water was very refreshing and the perfect way to end a work day. We also had a few visitors come out to the pool and one of them happened to be a swim instructor. Her name was Kala.....meant to be....maybe ;-)! She was working with a 3 year old girl and a boy Potato's age. Kala was just shocked at how advanced Potato was and I felt bad for her because the little boy she was working with was rejecting the water.

She brought noodles and a little boogie board. Potato almost got out of our hands a few times trying to get to the boogie board. I will probably be picking up a noodle and a boogie board soon.

Anyway I took Kala's number and will give her a call next week. I am hoping she doesn't charge too much because I was very impressed with her patience and technique. I think I would prefer doing a group class more because I want to be involved in his progress and I love it when Potato is able to make new friends.

Daddy...let me see if you gots your big teeth in yet.

I love how he plays bashful.

It was incredibly bright outside.

Mommy and Potato: 4th of July dinner @ Chilis

We did a full week of Mommy and Potato Moments at the end of May but I try and get in on the photographs when I can. It's not easy when you are the photographer and would much rather catch everyone else's special moments. I guess I get that from my mother (the professional photographer). Anyways....Here are a few moments my bestie captured for me!

Happy Juice!

I am still in a daze from Thursday night! Mr. T and Dr Shipley made it back from their honey moon and it was a wonderfully perfect evening! They are such a beautiful couple and we are lucky to have them in our lives.

Ok so the evening was HOT, SCORCHING....incredible! Bar-b-que and booze made it all better. I have to say after having Potato I find that babies at a party just mean 10 times more fun.

Potato acted shy at first and then I all but shoved him in the pool and the party got started. With a cute three year old running around he was is heaven.

Music was played along with a few rated R conversations (whilst no babies around). A night to remember.

Mommy and Potato: Handme waaaay down!

How special is this?! I got to pass down a piece of clothing to my Potato! The name of the overalls are "Big Smith Overalls."

I took my first step while winking for the first time in these overalls. I was a big tomboy....can't ya tell?

I think he wears them better. Mr Potato face!

Kids Workshop @ Home Depot-Soccer Game

Ok so we have been attending Lowe's Build and Grow workshop but this weekend they did not have one. I was in search of something to do with Potato and I heard from a friend that Home Depot had a building program as well. It's called Kids Workshop.

I have to be honest when I say I was not impressed. Their set-up was not what I expected. They had tall tables and big people chairs. At Lowe's everything is very low to the ground so Potato can stand and work on the project freely. I had to hold him the whole time and he really was uncomfortable and it kept him from working on it himself. I guess it was geared to the older age group but they can have several options of seating.

Then when I requested our free goggles and apron the lazy work shop captain said "Oh I haven't had that stuff for a while." I guess I must have had a bitchy look on my face because I was pissed. I knows it free and I really shouldn't complain but hey its call good customer service and well she could have lied and said they were on order and I would have been satisfied. She failed so now I will be calling Monday morning and talking to a manager.

Lesson: Don't piss off the Momma Bear!

Ok so besides that I was really excited that my dad joined us on the build. To bad he did not know what he was getting himself into! You would think that three adults armed with instructions could build these t-tiny projects no problem. Wrong! Including each group around us we all were ripping the projects apart several times because we hammered or glued something in the wrong spot or direction. It was pretty hilarious actually. My dad would just shake his head and pull the boys projects apart and start over. He was such a trooper! I hope he comes with us again....

Instead of a badge they gave them a pin; which will be easier for me because I can just stick it on their Lowe's apron. I still have 3 badges to sew from last Saturdays build. I love it though!

Here are a few pictures from our adventure today. After the build Potato and I hit the library again and took home about 30 books. I'm not kidding! We read so much I don't want to run out before Saturday.

Embrace the Camera:Day 7

Oh how I love my Potato!

These are not from today because Potato and I were way to busy for pictures. Although I did find some great pictures taken at my nephews first birthday party.

Embrace the Camera:Day 6

I should have taken it easy today considering I have to go back to work tomorrow but no dice. The Potato and I hit the road this morning to help Maw and Auntie Claire at the clinic then starting shopping. I really can't keep up with these women when it comes to shopping not too sure if anyone could for that matter. I love these ladies though and well Monkey and Potato always have the best time together. I am so glad that he has a best friend.

Anyway DH and I rounded the day down with pulling weeds and blowing bubbles. We were dirty and tired but were able to catch a few pictures.

Embrace the Camera:Day 5

What a special day I have had. Strike that! I have had a very special weekend. I have celebrated my birthday for the past 3 DAYS! Today was wonderful. I got to share my birthday with my beautiful nephew and it couldn't have gone any better. I have lots to blog about but here is the Mommy-Potato moment caught today.

Potato was so beat from swimming and eating yummy cupcakes and pb & j sandwiches. So I was the only ham today.

Embrace the Camera:Day 4

Not sure if the Randolph Krewe stopped at all today. At least I don't remember a moment. I do have proof that the Potato and I were able to snag a couple of photos in between the madness of breakfast at Meche's, Build and Grow at Lowes, lunch with the rents-in-law, followed by hanging with DH's uncle at his camp in Cankton, then out to my parents for my dads and my birthday celebration. Yes, we did all of this in ONE day.

Embrace the camera: Day 3

So far today my sister-n-law, Sammy, Monkey, Potato, and I hit the library for their opening for the summer reading program. Since school is out as of this week the place was completely packed. We were able to sit in on story time with Harvey the Rabbit, and even get in a few art activities.

The library even had a snack ready for the kids: cookies and water/juice! Yummy! Two little boys kicked three grown women's butts. Since two of the ladies were getting visits from flow we craved grease so we hit Canes. There is no place like it!

Potato could not go any longer and told me it was time to go home for a nap. This is my favorite ONE parts of being a mommy.

My darling I love you!- Cara mia, ti voglio bene!

How do you say "I Love You?"-je t'aime(French), te quiero (Spanish)

Please don't mind the ketchup on his chin.

He was saving that for later. ;-)

Even though we all say it in a different language; our babies are our weakness, strength, and core of all that we feel.
