Make a Splash....Read: Books for the week

I know I haven't posted about his books for almost a month and that is because I have been going nuts with DH and Potato being sick all the time. Now that we know that Potato has allergies he has medicine and seems to be doing great. DH on the other hand will be going through a sleep study then inevitably going to have nasal surgery with a possible tonsillectomy. We are hoping that this makes them all better. Please keep us in your thoughts. Now back to it here are the books that we have read since my last post.

No More Diapers for Ducky by Bernette Ford and Sam Williams
There by Marie Louise Fitzpatrick
Pigs Love Potatoes by Anika Denise
Betsy Who Cried Wolf by Gail Levine
The Trouble with dogs....Said Dad by Bob Graham
Let George Do it by George Forman
She'll be coming 'Round the Mountain by Jonathan Emmett
One Ted Falls out of Bed by Julia Donaldson
M is for Mischief by Linda Ashman
Always and Forever by Alan Durant
Just like a baby by Juanita Havill

Make a Splash....Read- Bring Daddy to the Library

Potato and I decided that daddy needed to come and see what else we do with our Saturdays. We brought DH to the Public Library and he was impressed! Each day DH and I fight over who gets to read to Potato. Its really funny since he reads in voices and it cracks me up. I know that all our bonding and persistence is working because Potato's vocabulary is growing.

This past week we have been very busy but we did read:
  1. Worry Bear by Charlotte Dematons
  2. Save the Egg-Wonder Pets
  3. Fred and Ted Like to Fly by Peter Eastman
  4. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr Seuss--my favorite!
  5. Veronica by Roger Duvoisin
  6. Always in Trouble by Corinne Demas
  7. Olivia's Opposites by Ian Falconer
  8. Where are the dogsharks
  9. The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss--another one of my favorites
  10. Baby signs by Joy Allen
  11. In the Tall, Tall Grass by Denise Fleming
  12. The Lady with the Alligator purse--Every girl should remember this!
  13. Chicken, Pig, Cow on the Move by Ruth Ohi-- Very sweet book
  14. Froggy Learns to Swim by Jonathan London

Make a Splash....Read!

Saturday I finally took Potato to our newest local library. Its amazing! I can't tell you the last time I had a library card. Well now its very important that I have one because I don't have disposable funds to buy books and we read entirely too much.

I signed us up for a card and let Potato loose in the huge children's section(which is have of the library) and he picked what seemed like 20 books. I even sat on the floor with him and read a few because he just wasn't having it that we had to wait until we got home to read. I know that all of the stories are make him progress mentally and well I love to see him oooh and ahhh while pointing at everything on the pages.

They are having a summer reading program and mommy and daddy need to read at least 10 minutes a day to him and when we get to 320 minutes we get a prize and 640 a better prize. We keep track by bubbling in our "Lets make a Splash" worksheet. So far we have 4 bubbles. Each bubble is worth 10 minutes.

I plan on going once a week to swap out books for Potato. I really love that this can be something that Clayton and I can share. This Saturday the Library is having a Zoo on Wheels show and I really can't wait to see what animals they bring. They will also be having a story telling time that we plan to attend. Pictures to come.

PS Lots of exciting things will be happening in the next 4 days so make sure to tune in!
