My first flowers!

This past weekend I got into the groove of painting again. I hope to be able to do something each week, but with a three year old we know how mommies hobbies get put aside.

I have never painted a flower and was constantly told that it was the easiest concept to grasp. Ha! Well it could be if i relaxed and realized that my paintings do not have to be perfect or look as good as my veteran teacher!

I am excited to say that i have gotten lots of compliments on my paintings so hopefully I can be a little more relaxed with the next flower.

I ended up giving my first flower painting to my co-worker sunve she is the Hibiscus guru! I really think she liked it and its currently on display in her office.

I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I do!

P.S. For some of my readers.... I posted this while on my lunch break! Have a nice day!

New Painting

Its been a while since I have posted about a new painting. As you can tell I am very much a beginner but I am still VERY proud of all that I have done. Thankfully I have a great teacher, my mother-in-law. She rocks and is a great inspiration because she is still going to art classes and learning new things.

My first painting was a gift to a friend that I completed at Painting with a Twist. I do believe this is what created my painting bug. I used to take art classes in school but never got to paint. We mostly did sketches and worked with pastels.

Some of my older paintings I learned a great deal along with getting some courage to do my own thing. I don't really like being unsupervised while I paint. I get very stressed and tend to panic when I think things are going wrong. There have been a few times where I toss the canvas completely. Then there are times where I white it all out and start over.

The last painting I did was back in February for a friends birthday. I grabbed the idea off of Etsy and made it my own. She really enjoys the painting and it is proudly displayed in her home. I think it brings me more joy to give my paintings to my friends because I know that they really appreciate them.

I did do one as a Christmas gift for a friend and I do believe I am most proud of how it turned out. This painting is sentimental mostly because of the appreciation and thought that went into creating it. It was definitely the most difficult one and the one that took the most time. I was in no rush!

I completed one last night that is really different than what I am used to. I have noticed that I really don't have a certain style. I like to dabble in all things from abstract to landscapes. It looks really simple and I thought it would have been because I found the idea on Pinterest. Since I did not use spray paint mine was a lot more time consuming and difficult. It also did not help that the painters tape I used did not keep the paint from bleeding under. I am sure it didn't have anything to do with the glass of red wine I was enjoying during the process! I had to do a lot of touch-ups, but it turned out great! At least I think so.....

My first painting!

A few friends and I went to Painting with a Twist one night and that is where I got the painting bug! I love it and it is truly relaxing.

I gave this Fleur de Lis to one of my besties and it couldn't have meant more to anyone.

My Arts!

Here are my latest pieces. You can tell I am a beginner but really....who cares. It makes me happy after a long day at work to sit and color. Let me know what you think!
I have such a great teacher, my MIL! I still have to learn the basics of color mixing and my perspective is a little off as well.
DH is very proud of me and my new hobby. He thinks I am a natural and of course loves everything that I paint. Don't get me wrong if its a jacked up painting he lets me know. I love his honesty...sometimes.
Anyway I hope that you all have a very happy Friday!

Painting with a Twist! -- Your Fleur de Lis

Dear Blogging Buddies,

I have found the ultimate activity for a mommy, wife, or girlfriends! Painting with a Twist! I am sad to say that there are not enough shops open yet. So if there isn't one open close to you I am sorry.

A couple of my girlfriends and I got together and decided we were in need of a little art therapy. I was able to get an insane discount with Sieze the Deal. If you are not signed up you should be, like go do it NOW!

I had heard how much fun it is because you can get a big group of your friends to go with you or you can just hold a private session. Pretty fancy, right?! Although our group wasn't big enough to be private we did take up a quarter of the class. A major plus with going paint with your buds is that they incourage you to bring liqour of your choice. FOE REELZ! So I brought a bottle of red wine.

When you go to a session they have all of the canvases set up with your template already drawn on, major plus for the non-drawer? I went to paint anyway...lol! This session was much different than most because they let us paint with which ever colors we liked.

Overall a completely amazing experience and can't wait to go back. This did ultimately put a little bug in me to pick up a paint brush and learn. My MIL, as you know, paints among her many other activities. She is being so kind to teach me the proper techniques and I am very eager to learn.

When you look below and see that my painting has a little blob on it don't get mad. I had to blob on it because this painting will make its debut in a couple months. I hope you enjoy the others though!

Its a Elmo, Melmo, Mo....painting!

We all know how obsessed Potato is with his Elmo; so you can just imagine how excited I was to receive an email with the start of a masterpiece.

Remember when I mentioned that the family has talent well this is just a little proof about DH's mom.

Stage 1

Stage 2

Stage 3

Stage 4

Stage 5

I can't wait to hang it on Potato's wall. Although I do realize that Elmo will cause trouble when Potato does not want to leave his room.
