Arts and Crafts:Maracas

DH brought Potato to school yesterday morning and everything was fine except for what we thought was a little diaper rash. There was no fever or even a sad Potato. He was in great spirits and ready to go play with his friends. I was at work and my cell rang....scary.... I answered and it was the day-care director. She loves Potato and always calls me personally when there is a problem.

DH and I took him to the doctor and Mr. Pediatrician diagnosed him with HFMD (hand, foot, and mouth disease) yesterday and can't go back to school until the doctor releases him. I do have to say that really got off easy with this sickness. He barely has any spots and there has been no fevers. Mr. Pediatrician said that HFMD is suppose to run 103-105 degree fevers. He is in great spirits.

I leave you with our art project for our first day of hookie!

Go check out my video you won't be sorry!

Sweet Boys Update!

My earlier blog showed you the stress of having my two most favorite boys sick.

Well after a few breathing treatments for the Potato he is on the road to a very speedy recovery. I can't tell you how many yucky diapers I have changed over the weekend. I guess that is the sign of the demons releasing their hold on my little man ;-)! He of course is in great spirits and has been a force to be reckoned with. Now to get DH to feeling better.

The doctor slid some meds "under the table" to DH and said this ought to fix you! He was right!!!!! The cough is really calming down and he is starting to feel the demons leaving him as well he-he! Well I could not be happier. He also went in for chest and head x-rays on Thursday because his doctor was concerned he may have polyps and of course we would not get a call back from the doctor until this morning. The nurse said "Mr. Randolph we will need for you to come in so that we may discuss your x-ray results."There is no way to describe the fear that shot through my body; although DH was calm and cool. Can you tell that I am the worrier?!?

At 10:40am he went in to see the doctor and his x-rays did NOT show polyps. It showed a CYST, in his nose, and a little spur growing on top.How nice..... He can't feel the spur but the doctor said that it has the potential of poking straight through....HIS NOSE! It sounds horribly painful but the doctor did not seem concerned. Well this cyst is causing really bad deviation and in the septum and he will have to have surgery. How wonderful! The doctor said that he did not have to do it right away but by years end it needs to be done. Otherwise it can cause severe damage. My poor husband has already had back surgery and now this! I am not sure why he has to go through all of this and I pray that God takes away all his pain and stops troubling him. I know that things could be much worse but its just so disheartening. I hate to see him in pain or uncomfortable. The good thing is we now what we need to do to fix him.

DH also needs to do a sleep study soon because the doctor is afraid he may have a bad case of sleep apnea. This can cause brain damage over time and may bring on early onset dementia. Since dementia is in the family bloodline I am already worried. I guess the sleep study is on the list of to-do's for my hubby.

On a great note the chiropractor visits 3 times a week are really working wonders. He has NO pain! After each session they are making progress on straightening out his very unlevel body. He has one hip to low his neck and shoulders are way off. He has an appointment coming up to let us know his progress so this should be pretty amazing. I will let you know how that goes.

Besides all this ruckus the weekend was kinda muted. My bosses daughter had her boy baby shower and it was lovely and then Potato had a birthday party to attend for his buddy from Butterflies Day-Care. Sunday I was laying by the pool and sippin on an adult slushy! There was not other way to end a very stressful week. I hope you enjoy the few pictures I got from our weekend.

Way-Back Wednesday!

The Randolph boys have been sick for over a month now and I am about to lose my ever lovin mind! DH will be going back to the doctor tomorrow for the third time. They have no clue what's wrong with him and have tried the strongest medicines.

Potato just got over his 4 infection in the past two months but last night ran a fever of 101 and this morning of 100. I took him to the doctor yesterday morning and they said that his ears look great and "Yep he has a cold!" OMG! I must have a kickass metabolism because I have yet to catch what they have. On the other hand my metabolism is making my Psoriasis kick into high gear. I am stressed all the time and practically in tears every night. I feel like throwing my hands up in the air because I can't fix my boys!
I feel like a horrible wife and mother although I disinfect the house twice a day and pump so many vitamins into each of their systems with no sign of the bug clearing. I feel lost, discouraged, angry and depressed.

While I am away from my boys I feel hopeless. DH is my backbone and Potato is my happiness. What do you do without those two things?! I have a ton of pictures in my office and when I feel low I look at them. I have some of when Mr and I first started our journey together. His smile warms my core as do his big bear hugs. I love the fact that I can curl up in his arms and look like a little girl. Safe, secure, and loved. I love how when I look at them I can see how far we have come and how much we have accomplished together. I am on an incredible life journey and the only place I want him to be is right beside me.

Then how could you not adore a face like this one! The picture below was from May 2009.

I hope you enjoyed looking back with me.

Drs, Drs, and more Drs!

I took two days off this week to take care of much need doctors appointments. I wish I could say that Potato took his visits well but that is not the case this time.

(Monday)
We started off the day going to the Pediatrician for a well baby check up and more vaccines. He was so happy when we arrived and even got in a little play time with a few of the other WELL babies in the office. It was our turn and he walked in like a big boy to get his height, weight, and head circumference taken.

Height-2 feet 8 inches=72th percentile

Weight-29lbs=92th percentile

Head circumference-19 inches=77th percentile

Then it was time to talk to the doctor followed by vaccines. The thigh shots are usually not a problem but when the nurse gave him two shots in his little fat arm he lost his mind. Clayton is such a soft hearted child and it breaks my heart when I hear him say "Owee!" over and over followed by crocodile tears. I felt myself welling up but had to stop that because there were four more to go!!! As soon as the nurse was done I picked him up and held him for a couple seconds and he was all better.

Now it was time to head to the Pediatric Eye Doctor. This visit went very well. I am sure everyone is thinking "He is too young or doesn't his pediatrician check their eyes?" While the latter is true I don't want to take any chances since our family is just riddled with eye problems including Mr and I. Over protective....yes I guess that is what I can be called, but you will never be able to say that I missed something or that my child's health is not a priority!

(Tuesday)

The morning was spent at dentist office for the Randolph family. It would be strange to say that we had a great time but I have to say that it was GREAT anyways! Mr went first and got his pearly whites cleaned and checked (no problems). Then it was Potato's turn to sit in the chair. He ate all of the attention up. Our dental assistant checked all of his teeth and was shocked that he already has his first set of molars. His teeth are great and they were very happy to see us bring him in so he can get used to everything. Potato got to play with the "water sucker", "tooth tickler", and they even gave his own big boy tooth brush! He was so excited! The dentist looked like she was about to pop out her own baby. She was such a sweet heart and we can't wait for our next cleaning in six months. Ms Dentist said that Clayton was her youngest customer and that we should expect toys in the lobby for next time!!! Yay.

Since we had such a great time at the dentist Mr and I were not able to make it to our eye appointment and had to reschedule but it was worth it for us to all be together.

My Potato is an amazing little man!
